Mazel Thompson, age 83, departed this life on Wednesday evening, March 24 2021, at Big South Fork Medical Center in Oneida, TN. Born July 17, 1937, in the Smokey Creek Community, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Erva Carroll Lowe. She was a member of the New Haven Baptist Church and a member of the Oneida Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Herbert Lowe, Rexford Lowe, Onva Lowe and Jacob Lowe; sisters, Hazel Mays and Elsie Fordice.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth "Odell" Thompson of Oneida, TN; daughters, Joyce Loomis and Susie Taylor and husband Rick of Oneida, TN; one son, Buster Thompson and wife Kim, of Oneida, TN; one brother, Floyd Lowe of Winchester, Indiana; six grandchildren, Cassie, Julie, Chris, Daniel, Jackie and Dana; thirteen great-grandchildren, numerous special nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Friends may visit with the Thompson family, Sunday, March 28, 2021, at Four Oaks Funeral Home in Oneida, from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Music with be provided by Lon Whaley, Jr. Burial will follow in the Cooper Memorial Cemetery in the Coopertown Community.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
Due to COVID-19, and in consideration of the executive order of Governor Bill Lee, we ask that attendees maintain appropriate social distancing, observe current health guidelines, and be considerate of all others in attendance. Masks are required.
