John "Jack" H. Casper, Jr.

St. Nazianz - John "Jack" H. Casper, Jr., age 90, a St. Nazianz resident, passed away Tuesday evening, March 23, 2021, two days short of his 91st birthday, at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born March 25, 1930 in the Town of Liberty, son of the late John and Mary (Heim) Casper Sr. John was a dairy farmer for 35 years and was also employed with Tecumseh Products for 28 years, retiring in 1992. On October 7, 1950 he married Dorene Bechle at St. Gregory Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on July 25, 1989. On December 30, 1989 John married LuAnn (Leonard) Kress at St. Gregory Catholic Church. He was a dedicated parishioner of St. Gregory Catholic Church where he sang in the choir for 60 years and cleaned the church for 14 years. John enjoyed coaching baseball, watching Cubs games, and playing golf. He liked woodworking and custom making golf clubs and other crafts. John also enjoyed dancing, playing cards, bowling, and traveling.

Survivors include his wife: LuAnn Casper, Kiel; his children: Michael (Louise) Casper, Savage, MN, Joan Mott, Chilton, WI, Barbara (Ed) Freeman, Chapel Hill, NC, Dennis (Connie) Casper, Manitowoc, WI, John A. (Diane) Casper, Oshkosh, WI, Dale (Julie) Casper, Manitowoc, WI, Diane (Gary) Mader, Brillion, WI, Susan (Dave) Hull, Neenah, WI, and MaryBeth (Tom) Hotard, Bettendorf, IA; four stepchildren: Terry Kress, Rickey (Laura) Kress, Lynn (Darren) Joniaux, and Karen (Wally) Theel; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law: Eugene (Cleo) Leonard; and one sister-in-law: Donna Peter. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Casper Sr.; his first wife: Dorene Casper; siblings: Florentine Hartmann, Sylvester Casper, Cledonia Winkel, Dorothy Broeckert Meiselwitz, Edwina Schmitt, and Katherine Casper; step-children: Timmy and Allen Kress; as well as other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 212 Church Street, St. Nazianz. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Tom Pomeroy. John will be laid to rest at the St. Gregory Church Cemetery following the Mass.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday evening, March 29, 2021 at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 8:00 p.m. The visitation will continue Tuesday morning, March 30, 2021 at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
