Dorothy I. Meiselwitz, 86, formerly of Kiel, died Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 22, 2004 at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center where she resided since 1996. She was the former Dorothy I. Casper, born Oct. 14, 1918 in St. Nazianz, daughter of the late John and Mary Heim Casper. Dorothy attended St. Gregory Parochial School in St. Nazianz. She was married to Fred Broeckert. On Aug. 18, 1987 she married Lester Meiselwitz in Manitowoc.
Lester preceded her in death on January 6, 1982. Dorothy worked at the former Hanson Glove Factory, Kiel for a number of years. She retired from Laun Furniture Company, Kiel, where she worked for many years. She was a former member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, and was currently a member of St. Cyril & Methodist Catholic Church, Sheboygan. She had been very active in the socia1 activities of the Wasserman Building.
Dorothy enjoyed her life fishing on Lake Winnebago and Lakewood area and hunting deer and geese. She also enjoyed socializing with her many friends. Dorothy was a wonderful mother and grandmother who enjoyed the visits from her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. Survivors include two daughters, Yvonne (Roman) Woelfel, Sheboygan, Emilee (John) Adamavich, Sheboygan; one stepdaughter, Janelle Kruecke, Brookfield; one step-daughter-in-law, Sharon (Eugene) Grucelski, Elkhart Lake; seven grandchildren, Todd (Mari) Gutschow, San Diego, Chris (Annette) Gutschow and Eric (Lolo) Gutschow, both of Corpus Christ, Steve (Liz) Gutschow, San Diego, David, Nancy and Mark Woefel, all of Sheboygan. She is further survived by 10 step-grandchildren, Paul (Terri) Meiselwitz, Appleton, Rachel (Frank) Engebretson, Boyceville, David (Sherri) Meiselwitz, Menomonee, Craig Meiselwitz, Illinois, Reid (Donna) Meiselwitz, Cleveland, Darren (Cathy) Meiselwitz, Elkhart Lake, Jeff (Tammy) Meiselwitz, Oshkosh, Bob Kruecke, Ron (Carla) Kruecke and Scott Kruecke, all of Brookfield; nine greatgrandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren and three step great-great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by one brother, John (Luanne) Casper, St. Nazianz, one sister, Katherine Wichart, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law, Ruth Casper, Kiel, nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; three sisters, Edwina Schmitt, Clendora Winkel, Florentina Hartman; one brother, Sylvester Casper; one stepson, Art Meiselwitz and one step son-in-law, Donald Kruecke. Funeral mass w11l be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 413 Fremont St., Kiel with the Rev. Loren Nys S.D.S. officiating. Burial will take place in the Kiel City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday at the CHURCH. A memorial has been established in her name. Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, Kiel, is assisting the family.
