Giles Shelton Perdue, 92, of Route 1, Box 534, Bluefield (Brushfork Road), died Monday, January 16, 1984, in a Bluefield hospital after a long illness.
Born in McDowell County, February 16, 1891, he was a son of Silas William and Mary Jane Hill Perdue, he was a resident of Brushfork for 67 years, a retired salesman for Sublett Feed and Supply Co. and a member of Brushfork United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sally Caldwell Perdue; two sons, Jack Perdue of Princeton and Thomas Perdue of Bluefield; five daughters; Mrs. Abe (Shirley) George, Mrs. Frank (Ruth) Gibberson, Mrs. George (Ruby) Stinson, Mrs. Thelma Huffman, and Mrs. James (Frances) Bond, all of Bluefield; two sisters, Mrs. Jimcie Hager and Mrs. Bessie Hambrick, both of Bluefield; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Michael Evans and Rev. Gene Sizemore officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Garndens on Bluefield-Princeton Road.
Pallbearers: Everette Perdue, Shelton Goforth, Bud Perdue, Albert Perdue, Leo Russell. Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 5 to 9 p.m.
