Verlene Mae Kollath, age 89, of Manitowoc passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.

Verlene was born March 21, 1932, in Newton, daughter of the late Walter and Ida (Paul) Dehne. She was united in marriage to Chief Warrant Officer-3 Donald A. Kollath Sr. on November 1,1952, at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church. Donald preceded her in death on January 16, 1972.

Verlene loved children, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, quilting, reading, sudoku and music. Verlene was a proud member of the Vietnam Veterans Gold Star Families. She listened to music with friends at the Senior Center and participated with the Ladies Aids at Salem Ebenezer Church. She loved to polka dance. Verlene loved growing up farming, Farm girl at heart! She loved Jersey Cows and had a dog or two keeping her company all the time, especially her surviving pug, Lola. She loved all animals and was a supporter of Lakeshore Humane Society and the Manitowoc Zoo.

Survivors include her six children: Joleen (Mike) Manring, Manitowoc; Cynthia Kollath, Brillion; Jimmy Kollath, Kiel; Lisa (John) Gibas, Manitowoc; Donald, Jr. (Barb) Kollath, Kiel; Christina (Rick) Manlick, Manitowoc; 17 grandchildren: Robert, Melissa & Steven Manring, Arrow & Billy Guetschow, Tara (Mike) Reese, Trevor (Erica) Kollath, Tonya Roberts, Natasha (Jerry) Lyon, Josh (Cindy) Schuler, Jeff (Lynn) Schuler, Jacob Babich, Verlene (Shawn) Pichette, Jesse Gibas, Joey (Samantha) Gibas, Angela, Kirk (Laura) & Kevin Kollath, Alisha & Emma Manlick; 15 great grandchildren: Korey, Lexus, Mercedes, Hunter, Wyatt, Willow, Wade, Annika, Erin, Ka-oe, Lillianna, Amelia, Jack, Garrett, Noah, Dominic; one sister: Laverne Schmitz, Newton; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relative and friends. Verlene was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Ida Dehne, her husband Donald Kollath Sr., her siblings Florence (Orville) Mott, Ruth (Russell) Mott, Leona (Clifford) Helke, Carol (Milton) Behringer, Jeanette (William) Schmalfeldt, Eleanor Fischer, Walter (Maureen) Dehne, Jr., and one brother-in-law Robert Schmitz.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, Newton. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Kyle Sorenson with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Newton.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, November 19, 2021, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday, November 20, 2021, at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
