La Verne J. Kangas, 79, passed away suddenly at her home on Wednesday, April 10, 2007. She was born March 9, 1928, in the town of Eaton, daughter of the late Fred and Lena Kratz. She married Clarence Kangas in Iron Belt, Wis., and they enjoyed 55 years together. La Verne enjoyed bowling and golf. She was an active member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church and the Ladies VFW Post #9677 Auxiliary. She loved gardening and working with flowers.

Survivors include daughter, Linda (Ken) Ericson, Kewaunee; son, Leo (Pat) Kangas, Virginia; grandchildren, Richard Allen, Greenleaf; Aaron Allen, Kewaunee; Brian (Rhonda) Kangas, North Carolina; Timmy Kangas, Fort Hood, Texas; Darrell Kangas, Virginia; brothers and sisters, Ralph (Audrey) Kratz, Bernice (Lester) Behnke, Norb (Barb) Kratz, Lillian Mangin, Evie (Wes) Loose, and Art (Diane) Kratz, Brillion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; a sister, Lucille Gronke; and her son Gerald, in infancy; brother-in-law, George Mangin.Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., on Monday, April 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. The Winiecki VFW Auxiliary Post # 9677 will conduct a service at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 120 S. Henry St., at 10 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Hatch officiating.
