Roma M. Hemb, age 82, of Sheboygan, died on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 13, 2008, surrounded by her family, at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center, where she resided the past one and one half years.

She was the former Roma Seifert, born on Jan. 20, 1925, in the town of Meeme, daughter of the late George and Ida (Rades) Seifert. Roma attended Pigeon River School. On May 29, 1941, she married Frederick E. Hemb in Iowa. The couple farmed the Hemb Homestead in the town of Meeme until 1958, when they moved to School Hill. From 1958 until 1973, they operated Fritz & Roma's Bar in School Hill. Roma moved to Sheboygan in 1988. Her husband Fritz preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 1976. Roma was a member of St. James United Church of Christ, Spring Valley. She enjoyed making quilts.

Survivors include nine children: Joan (Bob) Loebbaka, Sheboygan; MarJean (Jerry) Gutschow, Sturgeon Bay; Darlene Steffen and special friend, Verlyn Voland, Howards Grove; Sharilyn (Dan) Wusterbarth, Kiel; Betty Fellner and special friend, Rod Frankovis of Poy Sippi; Randy (Mary) Hemb, Oak Creek; Diana (Dan) Schaefer, School Hill; Paula (Jim) Haelfrisch, Reedsville; and Eric Hemb, Poy Sippi; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by one brother: Willard Seifert, New Holstein; one sister: Helen Rotsted, Sheboygan Falls; her dear friend: Dan Gosse; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one daughter: Barbara Mayer; three brothers: Raymond, Lester and Melvin Seifert; and two sons-in-law: Robert Fellner; and Jack Mayer.

Funeral services for Roma will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at St. James United Church of Christ, Spring Valley, with the Rev. William Kesting officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel, on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, from 4 until 7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

A memorial has been established in her name.
