Mrs. Charles (Elmira) E. Preston, age 82, of 318 E. Circle Drive, Whitelaw,
died Monday morning, June 8, 2009, at River's Bend Health and Rehabilitation
Center, Manitowoc.
Elmira was born Dec. 2, 1926, the daughter of the late Henry and Esther
(Reimer) Behnke. She married Charles Preston on Nov. 3, 1948, at St.
Augustine's Catholic Church in Reifs Mills. Elmira worked at Tecumseh,
Paragon Electric and at Branch River Country Club and Fox Hills Resort as
a waitress. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and St. Michael
Christian Mothers of Whitelaw. Elmira enjoyed gardening and sewing quilts.
Survivors include her husband: Charles Preston, Whitelaw; four sons and three
daughters-in-law: Dale (Diane) Preston, Cato; Kevin Preston, Whitelaw;
Mark (Laura) Preston, St. Nazianz; Thomas (Sue) Preston, Manitowoc; eight
grandchildren: Danielle (James) Bodart; Travis Preston and his special friend:
Amber; Lenora (Brandon) Groelle; Cody Preston; Ashley (Cody) Graf; Zachary
Preston and his special friend: Emily; Christopher Winkel and Alexus Preston;
four great-grandchildren: Isabella and Bryanna Bodart; Elliana Ammerman;
and Chevella Groelle; two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Willard (Eunice)
Behnke, Manitowoc; Henry (Diane) Behnke, Manitowoc; three sisters and
three brothers-in-law: Doris Mae Laabs, Newtonburg; Delores (Robert) Eickert,
Potter; Beverly (Eugene) Sonnabend, Brillion; Emil Carstens, Manitowoc;
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in
death by her parents; one son: Jerome Preston; two grandsons: Justin Preston
and Hunter Preston; one sister: Evelyn Carstens; one brother: Harold Behnke;
one sister-in-law: Geraldine Behnke.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009, at St. Michael
Catholic Church in Whitelaw. The Rev. David Zimmerman will celebrate the
Mass of Christian Burial with entombment at the Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum,
Hwy. 310 Manitowoc.
Relatives and friends may call at the church Thursday from 3 p.m. until the time
of the Mass at 6 p.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of
Kellnersville is serving the Preston family.
