Her husband, of 59 years, Salvatore S. "Sam" Catanese, died in August 2006.
Rose was born in Fitchburg, November 24, 1926, one of nine children born to Salvatore and Concetta (Anzalone) Valera and was a lifelong Fitchburg resident.
A graduate of Fitchburg High School, Rose had worked at Capital Leatherworks in Fitchburg. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and especially spending time with her family. She had attended Madonna of the Holy Rosary Church and more recently St. Joseph's Church in Fitchburg and Our Lady of the Lake Church in Leominster.
She leaves her daughter, Joann C. Cormier of Fitchburg; her son and daughter in law, Anthony and Suzanne Catanese of Trenton, Maine; six grandchildren, Tina Shenko, Sarah Cooper, Michael Cormier, Jessica Marks, Andrew Catanese, Christopher Catanese; nineteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son in law, Ronald Cormier of Townsend and was the sister of the late James Valera, Philip Valera, Nino Valera, Antoinette "Mary" Varieur, Angela Barone, Joann Valera, Constance Barone and Josephine Cala
Rose's Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, April 28, 2023 at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main Street, Leominster. Interment will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg.
Rose's family will receive relatives and friends at visitation period Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at the Isabelle & Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon Street, Fitchburg.
