Lucinda "Lucy" Calvin was the daughter of William Calvin of Creevelea, an elder in Stonebridge Presbyterian Church in Clones parish, County Monaghan, Ireland, and Anne Hadden of southern County Tyrone, who married in 1816 at Aughnacloy Presbyterian Church in Carnteel parish, County Tyrone.

Stonebridge Presbyterian Church baptism records include Lucinda Calvin, daughter of William Calvin "Elder" of Creevelea (church elder) on February 24, 1836. Also, written between the lines of two other baptismal entries is: "Lucinday Calvin, December 1838" (no father's name or residence). In the 1901 Canadian census, Lucinda's birth date was listed as Nov. 1837 -- a number heavily written over, but definitely not "1836" or "1838". She was age 24 on the ship passenger list from Ireland in 1861, age 34 in the 1871 Canadian census, and 42 in the 1881 census. In 1901, she was 63, born Nov. 1837, and in 1911, she was 72. Her 1916 death certificate gives her age as 75.

Lucinda Calvin married neighbor Robert Blakely's son, James Blakely (whose surname was also spelled Bleakley, Bleckley and other variations), on March 8, 1859 at Stonebridge "meeting house" (Presbyterian church). Both bride and groom were of full age (21 or older) and residents of Creevlea. James was a farmer and a bachelor, and Lucinda was a spinster (unmarried). Witnesses were Francis Bleakly and William F. White (Rev. William White was the minister of Stonebridge for many years).

In 1861, James and Lucinda emigrated to New York with their infant daughter Ann. By 1871 James and Lucinda were living in Aylmer, Quebec. Their other eight children were all born in Quebec after 1861.

Lucinda died April 24, 1916 in Carleton County, Ontario, Canada. Her death registration gave her age as 75, birth place Ireland. The lines for names of her mother and father were left blank; obviously the informant, J. J. Mackenzie, didn't know those details. Burial was in "Conroy's" Cemetery -- now called Bellevue, one of the oldest cemeteries in the Aylmer section of Gatineau, Quebec.

Lucinda's husband, James Blakely, and their sons, James Jr. and William, have headstones in Bellevue Cemetery, but a stone for Lucinda does not seem to have survived.
