Lucinda Carolina Hogan "Cindy" Fallwell was born on November 1, 1843, in Marshall County, Tennessee to Matilda Elizabeth Little, age 31, and William H. Fallwell, age 35. She was the third child born into this family. Cindy had an older brother and sister, Elisha Columbus and Nancy Elizabeth. About two years after Cindy's birth, her little sister, Mary Jane was born.
In 1847, when Cindy was about four years of age, her parents made a big move from Marshall County, Tennessee, to Rusk County, Texas, where they were able to purchase a lot more land at lower prices. The family lived in Rusk County for a few years where three more children were born: William Miles, Washington Lafayette and Leander Franklin Fallwell. Later, William and Matilda bought land in Panola County, Texas, where they moved sometime around 1860.

Jack was born on October 5, 1832, in Alabama. Jack and Lucinda had six children in 11 years. Their children were Marietta, William Brinson "Willie", Henry Thomas, Alice Olena, John Delmer and Beatrice.
Her husband Jack passed away on January 4, 1926, in Carthage, Texas, at the age of 93. They had been married 65 years. Lucinda Carolina Hogan "Cindy" (Fallwell) Duke passed away about three months later on April 5, 1926, in Clayton, Texas, when she was 82 years old.

Mrs. Jack Duke died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Tom Ross, April 5, after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Clayton church by Rev. Egbert Jimmerson, assisted by Rev. Harper and Mrs. C. A. Woodyard sang the beautiful song, "Face to Face." The remains were laid to rest in the Clayton cemetery beside those of her husband whose death came just three months before hers. They had lived long useful lives in that community and their memory will live in the hearts of loved ones and friends for years to come.
Mrs. Duke was 83 years of age, she was a charter member of the Free Baptist Church near Clayton. She was a kind neighbor, a true friend and loving mother. She is survived by two sons, Delmar and Willie Duke of Clayton, and three daughters, Mrs. Tom Ross of Clayton and Mrs. Dan Duke and Mrs. Willie Wall of Carthage. To these we express tender sympathy in the loss of their mother.
