Roland A. "Rollie" Tess, 97, of 915 First St. Kiel met his Lord and Savior on December 30, 2022, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice after a short illness. He was born on July 22, 1925, in Kewaunee WI, son of the late John C. & Ella (Nimmer) Tess. Rollie attended schools in Kewaunee County.

In 1943 he was called to join the war effort with the US Army. He proudly served in WWII with Patton's Third Army in France and Germany until 1946. He attained the rank of corporal working with the combat engineers building bridges and also drove jeep for ranking officers. On June 6, 1953, Rollie was united in marriage to Marian Erichsen at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Carlton WI where he was a member. Rollie and Marian were blessed with more than 69 years of marriage.

Rollie was a dedicated employee of Lake to Lake Dairy Co-op, Kiel for more than 34 years. Many of those years he served as Packaging Supervisor. In 1984 he was honored to win the World Cheese Championship. Rollie worked at Lake to Lake until his retirement.

He was a current and longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiel. In his free time, Rollie enjoyed volunteering at church, golfing with the Trinity Trotters, wood working, and playing cards in several clubs. He was a 25-year member of the Kiel Horseshoe League. Rollie lovingly served his Lord, was well-respected, and was a true gentleman with a genuine smile.

Survivors include his wife; Marian, their children; Paul (Beth) Tess, New Holstein, Arlene (Fred) Pastorek, Grafton, Sandy (Randy) Jaschob, Kiel, Ted (Dorie) Tess, New Ulm, MN, Laurie (Bill) Heckmann, Spring Valley. He is further survived 21 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law; Marie Tess along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers; John and Orville Tess, Gilbert (LaVerne) Tess, Edwin (June) Tess, Gerhart (Grace) Tess, four sisters; Lillian (John) Seidl, Joyce (Alvin) Shimanek, Pearl (Myron) Brusky and Erna (Harvey) Schneider.

Funeral Services for Rollie will be held on Saturday January 7, 2023, at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church (387 Cemetery Rd., Kiel) with Rev. Brett Naumann officiating. A time of visitation will take place at the church on Saturday from 9:00am until 10:45am when brief family rites will take place before the services at 11:00am. Military Honors will be accorded at the church after services. Burial will follow in the Kiel City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the Kiel EMS, the emergency department at Aurora Sheboygan, the nursing staff, chaplain, and veteran volunteers at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, Pastor Naumann, the First Street neighbors, and the Northeast Wisconsin Old Glory Honor Flight organization. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Old Glory Honor Flight.
