Burke Clark, 79, died Dec. 10, 2003, at the Riverview assisted living center in Idaho Falls.
He was born July 2, 1924, in St. Anthony to William and Lula Clark. He grew up on the family farm near St. Anthony and attended the local schools. He graduated from St. Anthony High in 1943. He lettered in boxing and football.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Was was wounded and hospitalized in April of 1945 and received an honorable discharge in October of 1945. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He married Melba Benson on Jan. 15, 1947, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in St. Anthony most of their lives. They spent a few years in Beryl Junction, Utah. He worked for several local farmers. In 1963 he started to work for the U.S. Forest Service and retired in December of 1988. The lived in St. George, Utah, in winters and in St. Anthony in summer until 1990 when they bought a home in St. George. The moved to Idaho Falls in 1999 to be closer to family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Melba, of Idaho Falls; two daughters, Sheila (Don) Steed of East Liverpool, Ohio, and Pamela Allen of Vancouver, Wash.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Waddell of Rexburg.
He was preceeded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 13, at 111 a.m. in the St. Anthony 3rd and 4th LDS Church with Bishop Mark McKay Officiating.
Friends may call at the Bidwell Funeral Home from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday and for one hour before the services Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery where military rites will be performed.
