Acker Alva, 88, Lamplighter Apts., died today at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ruth Mapes, 1214 Brillhart Ave. He was born Sept. 3, 1888 in Michigan, the son of Thomas and Sarah (Buell) Acker, but lived most of his life in Kendallville. He was married on Sept. 29, 1908 to Elsie Mignon Hills. She died Sept. 23, 1953. On May 17, 1958 he married Mable Patee. Survivors include the wife; five sons, Raymond and Roy, Kendallville, Orville, LaGrange, Alva Jr., Warsaw, and Robert, Auburn; four daughters, Mrs. Bert Trowbridge, Mrs. Arthur Mapes, Mrs. Berl Bates, all Kendallville, and Mrs. Robert Luke, Fort Wayne; two stepsons, Wayne Patee, Edon, Ohio, and Ray Patee, Auburn; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Roy Erwin, Buckeye, Ariz.; 42 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Miller, Goshen. One son, four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. Services Saturday at Berhalter-Hutchins Funeral Home. Burial, South Milford Cemetery. + 9-?-1976
