Mrs Hennis was Miss Amelia Thomas and was born October 30, 1854 in Brunswick, Germany. She came to the United States with her parents when a girl and was married in Marshalltown, August 15, 1871. Mr and Mrs Hennis moved to State Centr in 1903 and for a number of years before that time had lived on a farm east of the town.
Five children, a sister, Mrs John Ficken, of State Center, and the husband survive. The children are Henry and WIlliam Hennis, of Madelia, Minnesota; and Mrs U Weuve, August and W A Hennis, of State Center.
The funeral was held at the home at 1:30 and at St Paul's Lutheran church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, Rev J G Oltman had charge and burial was in Hillside cemetery.
Those in attendance from a distance were Mr and Mrs Henry Hennis and Mr William Hennis of Madelia, Minnesota; Mrs W A Bachman of Havelock and Mrs Mary Wooden and daughter Louise, and Mr and Mrs Walter Ficken, of Marshalltown.
