Henry C Hennis, 91, pioneer resident of Marshall county and the oldest living resident of State Center at the time of his death, died of pneumonia here Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held at the Wensel Funeral Home at 1:30 pm and at St Paul Lutheran Church at 2:30 pm Friday. Rev H P Kumpf will be in charge of services. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery.

Mr Hennis was born in Hanover, Germany in 1849 and came to the United States ate the age of 18. He lived on a farm in Illinois until 1868 when he came to Iowa in a covered wagon. He settled near State Center in this county at that time and has been a resident ever since.

In 1870 he was married to Miss Amelia Thomas. To this union five children were born. His wife preceded him in death in 1924. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs Ulysses Weuve of State Center and four sons, Henry and Will of Madelia, Minnesota, August of Marshalltown and Wilbur of State Center, and thirty grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
