Wilbert A Hennis, 59, retired farmer, died at a local hospital Monday morning following a serious illness of two weeks duration. He had been in poor health for two years.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church Wednesday afternoon with Rev James D Ransom officiating. A short prayer services was held at the home preceding the services at the church. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery.

Mr Hennis was born July 24, 1883 near State Center, the son of H C and Amelia Hennis. He later moved to State Center with his parents and between 1902 and 1908 was superintendent of the State Center Light Plant. On October 14, 1908 he was married to Clara Schoppe and that year they moved to a farm southwest of State Center where they farmed for 21 years. In 1929 they moved to town to retire.

Mr Hennis is survived by his widow, one sister, Mrs Emma Weuve of State Center, and three brothers, Henry of Madelia, Minnesota, Will of Hawick, Minnesota and August of Marshalltown.

He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of the World. He also was a member of the State Center Volunteer Fire Department from 1902 to 1908.
