Mr. Clayton E. Barksdale, 84, of the Limestone Nursing Home, died Tuesday evening, May 23.
Funeral services were held May 25 at the McConnell Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. A. J. Rollings officiating. Burial followed in the Athens City Cemetery.
Mr. Barksdale is survived by his sister, Mrs. Hassie Leopard, Athens; two sons, Archie Barksdale, Norfolk, VA, and Clifford Barksdale, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Barksdale was born in Limestone County and was a retired carpenter. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by one son, Major Pryor Barksdale, 1976.
Married Cora Magnolia Prentice, January 17, 1925, Ensley, Jefferson Co, AL. They divorced and she remarried Taft Bass.
