Daughter of Jesse and Edna (McKenzie) Jayne. Wife of Fred Conley.Mrs. Opal Ruth Conley, 32 year old Van Lear resident and mother of eight children, died Saturday in Paintsville General Hospital of injuries sustained July 5 in an auto mishap near her home. Mrs. Conley died of a fractured skull, according to State Police reports. State Trooper Jack Music said Robert A. Jennings, 17, also of Van Lear, was charged with reckless driving on the scene after his car rounded a treacherous curve at apparently a high rate of speed and crashed into the Conley car, which was traveling east. Jennings, whose brother Douglas, 23 was killed May 13 in an auto accident near Marion, Ind., will be tried Monday of charges of reckless driving, speeding and voluntary manslaughter according to County Judge Bill Ward. Survivors are Mrs. Conley's husband, Fred Conley, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Jaynes, three sons, James, Eugene and Richard; five daughters, Judy, Lena, Susan, Peggy Lou and Mary Lynn; one brother, Melvin Jaynes, Winchester; and two sisters, Lillie Mahan, Wittensville and Pauline Adams, Paintsville. All eight of the Conley children are at home, the youngest 16 months and the oldest 16 years. Mrs. Conley was born at White House on June 17, 1928 and was a life long resident of the county. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. Services were held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 18 at the Staffordsville Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs. Scott Castle, Lonza Reed and Bruce Daniel officiating. Music was by the Staffordsville Quartet. Burial followed in the Jayne Cemetery.
