WELL KNOWN STAR VALLEY WOMAN DIES

Mrs. Ray Humpherys of Etna Passes Away at the L.D.S.Hospital
in Afton Tuesday

Died at the L.D.S. Hospital in Afton, Mrs Ray Humpherys, was brought to this city a few days ago suffering from an attack of peritonitis and was under the care of Dr. Ellison. She was to weak at the time of her arrival here for any operative interference but responded under treatment until Tuesday of this week when after a brief struggle, despite the prayers and entreats of all who knew her, the sufferer's spirit took its flight to that home the Christian believes is the fulfillment of life everlasting.
Mrs Humpherys was the daughter of Mrs Della Gardner of this city and was one of a family of thirteen, six of whom are now living, B.D. Gardner and George Gardner of Afton Viola Gardner of Etna and Vilate Gardner who is at Wilson teaching school, and another brother in Cokeville. She was born in Cottonwood state of Utah in the year of 1883. Besides a devoted husband she leaves five children her brothers and sisters, a loving mother, and a host of friends to mourn her loss.
She ran the journey of life in 37 years. It is a path marked with deeds of kindness and cheer. she was a faithful member of the L.D.S. Church. She was not only faithful in believing that it was her duty as a Christian to do the will of her Master at all times. She was always ready to lend a helping hand in the time of need, both in acts of kindness and words. Her life was gentle, but like the still waters, it was deep. In her heart of hearts, she carried those she loved and her hand was never weary, her step never failed in ministering unto caring for, waiting upon those who were in any way dependent upon her.
The last services will be held here this week in the Tabernacle and interment will take place in the city cemetery.
The father and two brothers of Mr Humpherys of Logan, will be in Afton tonight to attend the funeral services.
