Betty J. Harshman, 83, Altoona, Kansas, died Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at Via Christi St. Joseph Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.
She was born June 27, 1925, in Neodesha, Kansas, to John and Erma "Tiny" (Hallbauer) Schoonover.
She married Charles N. Harshman on Oct. 7, 1945, at the Methodist Church in Altoona, Kansas. He died June 3, 1982.
She was a lifelong resident of the Neodesha and Altoona areas.
She was employed in several local restaurants, including the Main Street Restaurant in Altoona, KS.
She was a member of Verdigris Valley Christian Fellowship.
Survivors include three children, Charles "Chuck" Harshman Jr. and Stacy Raymond, both of Altoona, KS, and Linda Fuller, Neodesha, KS; three sisters, Mary Ann Dannels and Sheila Kaufman, both of Neodesha, KS, and Theda DeVoe, Fredonia, KS; a brother, Duane Schoonover, Braman, OK; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Arlene Busick, Lorene McKenzie, and Barbara Reynolds; three brothers, Loren, Melvern and Carl Schoonover; a grandson and a granddaughters.
Funeral will be at the Verdigris Valley Christian Fellowship, Altoona, KS. Burial will be in the Altoona Cemetery under the direction of Timmons Funeral Home, Fredonia, KS.
