Ernest was born in East Brookfield, the son of Arthur and Jeannia (Rousseau) Derosier. He lived in that town for a great many years. Then he was a resident of Utica, New York for about ten years. Whine in Utica he worked as a short order cook, until retiring. Ernest came home to his family in Worcester just three months before his death.

At some point in his life Ernest married Marion Labrecque, but they had been divorced before he left Utica. At the time of his death he left three sisters, Mrs. Lillian Howard, Mrs. Jeannia Young and Miss Hattie Derosier. His funeral was held at St. Bernard's Church. It was at this time that Lillian bought the cemetery plot in Spencer.
