Louie married Mrs. Esther Louise (nee Knollman) Lutton on 10 May 1941 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ferguson, St. Louis County, Missouri.
Like all the Meseke boys, he helped his father run the farm. Louie left home in his early 20's and moved to St. Louis where he did carpentry work in Overland.
Louie and his younger brother, George, then owned and operated a small grocery store in Ferguson for many years. Located on the northeast corner of Chambers Road and Ames Place, he ran it with the help of his wife. George had a barber chair set up in the rear of the store where he cut hair. Louie eventually bought George's share of the business when his brother opened his own barber shop at Chambers Road and Jacobi.
After his retirement from the grocery business, Louie did carpentry and handyman work for a company that built new houses in north St. Louis County.

After her death, Louie continued to live in his home in north St. Louis County for several years. Due to declining health, he eventually went into a nursing home for a short time.
