Oleta married Walter Freand on 06 Nov 1935 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. They were the parents of 3 children, and Walter was a farmer. Over the years, they lived in the Illinois counties of Calhoun, Jersey and Greene.
The Freands were members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Carrollton.
After Walter passed away in 1971, Oleta moved to a house in Carrollton. She suffered a severe stroke in 1991 and then lived at Reisch Memorial Nursing Home for several years.
At the time of her death at the nursing home, Oleta was 82 years, 5 months and 20 days old. She was survived by 3 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, Dale Freand of Warrenton, Missouri, (Living) Freand of Carrollton, Illinois, and Lonnie Freand of White Hall, Illinois; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, George and Louie Meseke, both of St. Louis County, Missouri; and 1 sister, Freda Robeen of Hardin, Illinois.
In addition to her husband, Oleta was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Bud Meseke who was killed in action during World War II, Henry Meseke and Oscar Meseke; and 1 sister, Bertha Arnold.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on 29 Jun 1997 at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. the following morning at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Carrollton. Oleta was buried next to her husband, Walter.
The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the church.
