The daughter of Henry Meseke and Wilhelmine Hammer, Emma left home to work in the home of Judge Ernst Meyer and his wife, Amalie Dinkler Meyer. Like the Mesekes, the Meyer family lived in Calhoun County, Illinois.

After a few years, Emma married Amalie Meyer's only sibling, Charles "Carl" Dinkler. Carl and Emma were wed on 02 Sep 1884 in Jerseyville, Jersey County, Illinois. He was a farmer in Calhoun County, Illinois, and they were the parents of 1 child.

Emma and her husband took over a large grocery and dry goods store run by Judge Meyer. Off and on through the years, Emma also served as Postmaster.

Emma died 4 days after her 77th birthday. Emma was survived by her daughter, Minnie Nairn; 2 grandsons and 5 granddaughters; 3 sisters, Louise Smith, Annie Kinder and Caroline Kinder; and 1 brother, Louis H. Meseke.

Emma was buried on 29 Aug 1944 and was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, who died in 1928.
