EDWARD LOCKARD

The funeral of Edward Lockard, whose sad demise was briefly mention in last week's issue was held here last Thursday, Rev. Schultz of Alma, conducting the services and the church choirs rendering appropriate songs. Deceased, who was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. W.D.Lockard of this town was born September 30, 1881 at Nelson, WI. His entire life was spent at home with his parents and although he was not endowed with a robust constitution, his health was quite good, his first serious illness being his last fatal one, a case of pleura-pneumonia of one week's duration. He died Tuesday, March 17th in the prime of his life, on the threshold of manhood, he was stricken down and sorrow has entered the home of his parents who stand with bowed heads at the open grave of a beloved son. Sisters and friends are cast down in sorrow and the community sympathizes with those who have been thus sorely bereft. Besides his sorrowing parents, deceased leaves four sisters to mourn his untimely demise. They are: Mrs. Mary Moore, Mrs. Drusilla Aitken, Mrs. Emma Wiegele and Mrs. Permilla Hess. To the surviving members of the family we extend our most heartfelt condolence.
