MRS. ARCHIE MOORE

Mary Jane Lockard, daughter of Hannah (Best) and W. D. Lockard, was born in Beaver Falls, PA on Dec 19, 1867, and passed away at the Sacred Heart hospital in Eau Claire, Monday, July 8, at the age of 67 years. She came to Wisconsin with her parents in 1868. They settled on a farm in Trout Creek, town Nelson, where she grew to womanhood, attending the Trout Creek district school. On Jan 27, 1886, she was united in marriage with Archie Moore, and lived in this vicinity for many years. To this union eight children were born: Katie (Mrs. Frank Barto), Hannah (Mrs. Otto Sloop), Edna (Mrs. Andy Dahl) Alvira (Mrs. Herman Alitz) all of Eau Claire, and Arthur of Weyerhauser, WI, Lavina (Mrs. H. S. Mize) of Great Falls, MT, died July 22, 1934, and two children died in infancy. Also ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, her aged father, W.D. Lockard, Iron Creek, town Nelson and three sisters, Drusilla (Mrs. Edward Aitken), Misha Mokwa, Emma (Mrs. Louie Wiegele) of Iron Creek, and Permilla (Mrs. Edwin Hess) of Nelson also survive. One brother, Edward, died in March 1900. Mrs. Moore was a good wife and mother, a kind neighbor and was well liked by all who knew her. Funeral services were held at the Union church at Nelson, Rev. H. Guy Campbell, the Pilgrim Congregational church, Durand, officiating with interment in the Nelson cemetery. Other relatives from a distance attending the funeral were: Mr. & Mrs. Wallace Aitken, Lake City, Mr. & Mrs. Selmer Johnson, Eau Claire.

There is no grave marker but there is a cement urn with "Moore" written on it in the center of the cemetery.
