Roland E. Libke, 69, of 14225 Woodside Lane, Kiel, died Thursday afternoon at St. Nicholas Hospital, where he had been a patient for over two weeks.
He was born on March 6, 1914, in the town of New Holstein, son of the late Herman and Helen Jochimsen Libke. He attended school in the township.
Mr. Libke married Laverne Streiber on March 8, 1954, in Kiel, and they resided in New Holstein until 1978 when they moved to Cedar Lake.
He was employed at Schaefer Garage, Hipke Canning Factory, and also MB Co., all in New Holstein until his retirement in 1978. Mr. Libke was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, also the America Legion Post in New Holstein.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Carlos ( Margene) Miller of Howards Grove, and Mrs. Robert (Darlene) Pieper, New Holstein; five grandchildren; one great grandson; three brothers, Glendon of New Holstein, Orville of Kiel and Kenneth of Elkhart Lake; four sisters, Viola Libke of New Holstein, Mrs. Phillip Conrad, Kiel, Mrs. Gordon Salzman of rural Kiel, and Mrs. Alfred Bruckner, Chilton. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Funeral service will be at Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel, the Rev. John Baumann will officiate. Burial will be in New Holstein cemetery.
