Mrs. Martin C. Bortner Dies After Long Illness At Age Of 72 Years

STICKS, December 6 – After a long sickness of a complication of diseases, a week of which she was confined to bed, Mrs. Elvina Catharine Bortner, wife of Martin C. Bortner, died yesterday at 11:30 a.m. at her home, near here. She was aged 72 years, 11 months and 28 days.
Besides her husband she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Emma Forry, near Lineboro, Md.; a son, Ammon Bortner, Glen Rock RD, and the following brothers and sisters: James and Noah Shearer, Glenville; Adam and William Shearer, York; George Shearer, Spring Grove RD; Mrs. Edward Miller and Mrs. Jacob Sheaffer, Glen Rock RD, and Mrs. A. L. Newcomer, of York.
The funeral will be held on Monday with brief services at her home at 9:30 a.m., after which concluding services will be held in the Stone Church, with interment in the adjoining cemetery. The Rev. W. H. Ehrhart, pastor of the Jefferson Lutheran charge, will officiate. Funeral Director George W. Geiple and Son, of Glen Rock, have charge of the funeral.
