SHEARER – On Thursday, August 17, 1939, at 4:15 p.m. (EST), at his home in Manheim Township, Glen Rock RD 1, Noah A. Shearer, husband of Cassie Sterner Shearer, aged 68 years, 5 months, and 7 days.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Sunday, August 20, at 1:30 p.m. (EST), with brief rites from the late home and concluding obsequies at Stone Church, near Glenville. Interment in adjoining cemetery.
Friends may call at the late home from Saturday afternoon until time of funeral.

NOAH A. SHEARER NEAR GLEN ROCK TAKEN BY DEATH

Glen Rock, August 17 – Noah A. Shearer, 68, former tax collector and assessor of Manheim Township, died at 4:15 p.m. today at his home, Glen Rock RD 1, near here.
Mr. Shearer, who had been in ill health for the past nine months, suffered a stroke of apoplexy this afternoon while walking from his home to the barn. Dr. W. D. Danner, Spring Grove, who had been in attendance since Mr. Shearer’s illness, was summoned, but the man expired before his arrival.
The deceased was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Stone Church, near Glenville.
The following survive: His widow, Mrs. Cassie Sterner Shearer, and these children, Mrs. Noah Rohrbaugh, Brodbeck RD; Mrs. Edward C. Zartman, Spring Grove RD 3; Raymond, Florence, Carroll, Wilford and Erma Shearer, all at home; four grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, George D. Shearer, Spring Grove RD; Mrs. Jacob Sheaffer, Hanover, and Mrs. Edward Miller, Glen Rock RD.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. (EST) with brief rites from the late home and concluding obsequies at Stone Church. Rev. Kenneth S. Ehrhart, pastor of the Lutheran congregation, assisted by his father, Rev. W. H. Ehrhart and Rev. Paul D. Yoder, pastor of the Reformed congregation, will officiate. Interment will be made in the church cemetery.
Funeral Directors G. W. Geiple and Son, Glen Rock, have charge of arrangements.



Noah A. Shearer was born March 10, 1871, and died at his home near Glenville, Pa., August 17, 1939, aged 68 years, 5 months, and 7 days.
Mr. Shearer had suffered a light stroke of apoplexy some months ago which had affected his speech. However, he had been able to be about and then, suddenly, a second stroke resulted in his death.
Mr. Shearer was a faithful and devoted member of the Lutheran congregation at the Stone Church and of the Sunday School. His pew was seldom vacant at either the Lutheran or Reformed services.
He was a good Christian man and respected by all who knew him. In his home he was all that a husband and father should be. Both pastors and their families enjoyed the hospitality of his home on many occasions.
The funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon, August 20, 1939, with brief services at his late home and more extended services at the Stone Church. His pastor, Rev. Kenneth S. Ehrhart, was assisted by Rev. Paul D. Yoder and Rev. W. H. Ehrhart. Rev. Yoder spoke briefly on the text, Col. 3:3. A large congregation attended the services. Interment in the new cemetery at the Stone Church.
