Joseph Pauly, 85, retied Calumet county farmer, passed away suddenly Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Alfred Schirmeister, Milwaukee.
The deceased was born August 26, 1864, at Charlesburg, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Pauly. He attended district schools in that area and was married to Katherine Muellenbach at Charlesburg on January 21, 1895.
The couple settled on the Pauly homestead farm and operated the farm, four miles south of Chilton, until their retirement in 1919.
Survivors inlude six daughters, Mrs. Hubert (Elnore) Lefeber of Stockbridge, Mrs. Albert (Margaret) Mauer of Sheboygan, Mrs. Walter (Marie) Gartzke of New Holstein, Mrs. Erwin (Gertrude) Bubb and Mrs. Alfred (Josephine) Schirmeister, both of Milwaukee, and Miss Louise Pauly of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sons, Joseph and John, both of Chilton; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Math. of New Holstein and Peter of Milwaukee; and three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Muellenbach of Marytown, Mrs. Anton Karls of Jericho and Mrs. Annie Nett of St. Peter.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Erbe-Hoffmann Funeral home, Chilton, and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic church, Charlesburg. The Rev. Father Melchior will officiate and burial will be made in the church cemetery.
