Leland L. Leifer, 84, of 904 N. 23rd Street, Manitowoc, died Saturday afternoon, June 1, at Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11a.m. Tuesday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Keith Haag will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Leifer was born May 27, 1901, at Plymouth, son of the late Otto and Caroline Friedrich Leifer. Mr. Leifer was involved with Insurance and Real Estate Business for over 50 years with the Pleuss Agency in Manitowoc, retiring in 1960. He married the former Madeline Kuhlman on July 5, 1930, at Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Mr. Leifer was past president of First Kiwanis Club of Manitowoc, past president of the Manitowoc County Board of Realtors, past president of Local Independent Insurance Agents Board and member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church where he had previously served on the church council.
Survivors include his wife, Madeline; a son and a daughter-in-law, Lee and Nancy Leifer of Manitowoc; a brother and a sister-in-law, Lorenz and Marion Leifer of Madison; four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Randall, Pamela and Karen Drossart; six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survived. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at 11 a.m. There will be no Monday evening visitation at the funeral home. Memorials would be appreciated to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church or Manitowoc Lutheran High School. Parkside Funeral Home, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
