MRS. VARNER, FORMER SHELBY CO. WOMAN, DIES
Mrs. James Francis Varner, 48, former resident of the Bethel vicinity, died at her home in Burlington, Colo., last Wednesday, following six weeks' illness of influenza and a complication of diseases.
The body was returned to Shelby county and funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Shiloh church conducted by the Rev. Ralph. E. Alexander of St. Louis, formerly of Shelbyville. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Varner was born May 4, 1888, northeast of Bethel, her maiden name being Miss Laura May Moore. She was married on Aug. 1, 1906 to James F. Varner, who survives. Also surviving are her mother, Mrs. Virginia Moore of northeast of Bethel; four brothers, James and Weldon of northeast of Bethel, Lloyd of Seibert, Colo., and Earl of LaBelle; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Pickett of northeast of Bethel, and Mrs. Roma Farmer of Vermillion. One sister is deceased.
Mrs. Varner had been living in Colorado since Jan. 1, 1916. She was a member of the Baptist church, having joined in young womanhood. Mr. Varner accompanied the body of his wife to Shiloh.
