Mrs. Ellen McCartney
Fanny Ellen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Hudson, was born in the town of Martell on July 7, 1859, where she grew to womanhood. She was the eldest daughter of 13 children. Mrs. McCartney passed away at her home in this city Saturday evening, October 5, 1940, at the age of 81 years. Funeral Services were held Tuesday afternoon, October 8, at 2:00 pm at the Methodist Church, Rev. Henry officiating. Interment was made beside her husband in the Centerville cemetery.
In the year 1878 she was united in marriage to Michael McCartney, a Civil War veteran. To this union were born four children: Mrs. Jesse Thompson of Rhinelander, Joe, Mrs. Nancy Jenson and Mrs. Louis Wilhelm of this city, to mourn their loss.
She was a resident of New Centerville until 14 years ago, at which time she moved to River Falls where she resided until her death.
She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Jane Vandenberg of Baldwin and Mrs. Rosetta Babcock of Portland, Oregon, and one brother, William J. Hudson of New Centerville; 11 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and host of friends.
Six of the nephews carried her remains to her last resting place beside those of her husband in the New Centerville Cemetery, who preceded her in death 40 years ago.

Thompson, Mrs Clarence Hall, Mrs. Bud McLaughlin, Mr and Mrs. Elmer Babcock, Mrs. Joe Fink; Mrs Fred Echert, Mr. Wilfred McNeill of St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs Jesse Thompson, Jr., of White Bear Lake, Minn.; Mr and Mrs. Ronald Wilhelm and children and Mrs. Johanna Fouks of Deer Park; Mr. and Mrs. George Hudson and Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Hudson of Eau Claire; Mrs. Warner Hudson of Ellsworth; Mrs. Jane Vandenberg, Mrs. Jakie Vandenberg and Mr. Mrs. Ernest Vandenberg of Baldwin; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Phernetton and Mrs. Kenneth McLaughlin and son of Hammond; Mr. and Mrs. William Hudson and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hudson of New Centerville; and Mr and Mrs. Earl H. Thomas, Mchenr, Ill., and a host of friends from this communityand other points.
