Brig. General Wallace E. Farragut, US Army, Retired, age 74, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2009 in Pass Christian.
He was a life long resident of Pass Christian and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry. He served in the US Army and the MS Army National Guard for 32 years, receiving numerous medals and commendations and he worked for the Civil Service at KAFB as Branch Manager with the 3300 training wing. Gen. Farragut served as a Commissioner for the Gulfport/Biloxi International Airport for 5 years and he enjoyed golf and piddling around the house.
Mr. Farragut was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Elizabeth Farragut; parents, Charles Cooper Farragut, Sr. and Annie Sylvester Griffin Farragut; three brothers, Adolph Farragut, Charles Cooper Farragut, Jr, David G. Farragut; and a sister, Annie Farragut Necaise. He is survived by his wife Diane Elizabeth Hincks Farragut of Pass Christian; children, Wallace E. Farragut (Samina) of Ocean Springs, Steven W. Farragut (Jenny) of Gulfport, Richard A. Farragut (Kippi) and Adam F. Farragut (Jessica Lindholm) all of Pass Christian; his siblings, Leada Niolet (Herman), Norma Cantrell, Georgine F. Vix (Elbert), Betty Van Zandt (Edward), Alice Russell (Tom), Grace Necaise, and Joseph Farragut (Phyllis); and four grandchildren, Lauren Farragut, Tom Farragut, Kayleigh and Taylor Farragut.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2009 at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd, Long Beach. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 in the funeral home Chapel. Interment will follow at Live Oak Cemetery, Pass Christian.
