Obituary of Norma Bonney Cantrell
(1924 - April 25, 2012)

Delisle, MS ~ Norma Farragut Bonney Cantrell, age 88, of Delisle passed away at home with her family by her side on April 25, 2012.

She is preceded in death by her two husbands, Delmore Joseph Bonney and Louis Cantrell; her parents, Charles C. Farragut, Sr. and Annie Sylvester Griffin Farragut; four brothers, Adolph Farragut, Charles Cooper Farragut, Jr. (Geri, deceased), David G. Farragut (Pat), and Wallace Farragut (Diane); and one sister, Annie Farragut Necaise (Horace, deceased).

She is survived by her five children; Michael Bonney (Linda) of Long Beach, Patricia Bonney Lee (Lavelle) of Poplarville, Henry Lee Bonney (Pat) of Pass Christian, Mary Bonney Moran (Dale K.) of Pass Christian, and Beverly Parker (Walter) of Lizana; her siblings; Leada Niolet (Herman), Georgine Vix (Elbert, deceased), Betty VanZandt (Edward), Alice Russell (Tom), Grace Necaise, and Joseph Farragut (Phyllis); lifelong best friend for over 60 years, Mattie Mitchell of Delisle. She also leaves 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Norma, or "Pint", as she was affectionately called, was very active at the local (Post 5931), district, and state level of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was state president in 1985-86 and had as her motto, "Live, Love, and Laugh." Her symbol was a clown because she believed in having a good time and making people smile. She worked hard to raise money for Cancer Aid and Research.

The visitation will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., with services beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Gulf Pines Cemetery on 28th Street.

Memorials in Pint's name can be made to your local VFW Cancer Aid and Research Fund (contact your local VFW) or to Pass Christian Alumni Scholarship Fund (contact Pass Christian Schools.)

The family would like to express their deep gratitude for all of the support of family and friends, with special thanks to Cabrini Bratton Cadrecha for her love, care, and prayers for their mom in her final days and to Odyssey Hospice for all of their help.
