Cedar Falls--John Dewey Osgood, 87, of Parkview Gardens Care Center, formerly of 617 Fourth ave., will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Richardson Funeral Home with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Osgood died Thursday (Feb. 26) at the care center of complications of age.
He was born March 11, 1899, in Cedar Falls, son of John H. and Bertha Townsend Osgood. He married Bessie Ward in Cedar Falls in 1949. She preceded him in death.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a mechanic on the Illinois Central Railroad, retiring in 1964.
Survivors include two sons, Harold of Waterloo and John Jr. of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Bernice Jones, Darlene Marquart and Rosezella Massina; a sister, Olive Madsen of Cedar Falls; and 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; he was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and until services Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
