He graduated from DeForest High School in 1938. He married Neva Miller Aug. 19, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa. After they were married, they lived in Morrisonville for many years. He worked for Mair Lumber Company in Morrisonville and also raised tobacco.
He then became a realtor and owned his own real estate business, Pine Valley Realty, in DeForest. He sold his business to First Realty and worked for them for a few years until he retired.
They moved to Lake City in August of 1997. Neva died June 24, 2003. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lake City. He was an avid Packer fan and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing.
He is survived by two daughters, Patricia (David) Niebuhr of Lake City, Minn., and Nancy Wass de Czege of Rochester, N.Y; one granddaughter, Lynn Marie (Kevin) Butterworth of Boise, Idaho; one step-grandson, Chip (Linda) Niebuhr of West Allis; one sister, Helen Sorensen of Wichita, Kan.; and a special friend, Lorraine Swanson of Lake City.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one step-granddaughter; two brothers; and two sisters.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 25, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Lake City with the Rev. Don Jones officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery in Lake City.
