Adelaide was born to John Sanford Anderson Shearer (b.1868-d.1949) and Etta Florence (Cline) Shearer (b.1867-d.1953). Adelaide married Arthur Samuel Abrams (b.1888-d.1954) in March 1911. She had five children: Wallace Ray Abrams (b.1912-d.1913); Glen Willard Abrams (b.1913-d.1978); Ruth Viola (Abrams) Aldrich (b.1919-d.1986); John Sanford Abrams (b.1921-d.1978); and Isa May (Abrams) Bosworth (b.1923-d.2014).
Adelaide had four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
