Linda Christenburg has sent the following information on her G-G-Grandmother.

Ann is the daughter of John M. Smith and Margaret "Peggy" Stafford Smith. Ann first married McKellar and second married McDaniel.

Ann's birth, both marriages and her death all show they happened in Marion County, South Carolina. That area now is Dillon County, South Carolina.

Ann Smith married John J. McKellar, Jr., son of John and Elizabeth (McCormick) McKellar about 1842. Ann and John had seven children.

1--Amanda (1845-1895)
2--Elizabeth "Betsy" (1847-1881)
3--Milton (1849-1915)
4--Minerva (1851-1927)
5--Joseph "Joe" {TWIN} (1853-1926)
6--Mary Ann {TWIN} (1853-1899)
7--Adeline (1855-1934)

After the death of Ann's husband, John J. McKellar, Jr., Ann remarried about 1864, in Marion County, South Carolina, (now that area is (Dillon County), James A. McDaniel, Jr., son of James A. McDaniel, Sr. and Martha Ann (Edwards) McDaniel. They did not have any children, but James raised Ann's children.

Ann's marker has Anny wife of J.A. McDonald. This is a mistake in the engraving. It should read: Anny wife of J.A. McDaniel, Jr.

We do not have a picture of Ann, but Linda took the picture of her headstone and shared it with us.

Thanks Linda for all the help you have given me over the years.

Ann (Smith) McKellar McDaniel and her husband James A. McDaniel, Jr. where charter members of HAMER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, formerly named Beulah, was organized in 1891 at Hamer by a commission from the Pee Dee Presbytery, as a result of the evangelistic labors of the Rev J.G.Richards.

The first pastor was Robert Bradley. A church building was completed in 1904. In 1923, the name was changed from Beulah to Hamer Presbyterian Church. Removal of the membership made the operation of the church increasingly difficult until only occasional services could be held. On October 14, 1971, the remnant of the congregation accepted the inevitable, and disbanded the church. The building has since been razed.

At last she has left us, her spirit has fled. Her body now slumbers along with the dead.
