Joseph was the son of John J. McKellar, Jr. and Ann (Smith) McKellar.

Joseph had a twin sister Mary Ann McKellar.

Joseph "Joe" married Ophelia. They had two children.

(1) Joseph Henderson McKellar (1891-1977)
(2) Mary McKellar.

Raeford Baxley remembered "Joe" as he called him, as a little short man.

Joseph was the step-son of James A. McDaniel, Jr.

Joseph had Brights disease.

He was the brother of my great grandmother Minerva Ann (McKellar) McDaniel.

Charlotte (McKellar) Davies-Burnett sent the name of Joseph's wife, Ophelia, but she was not sure of the spelling of her maiden name, but it was Ammonds or Emonds... something along those lines.

Joseph "Joe" moved to Ga. with his wife and two children.
Later Joseph "Joe" went back to Dillon, South Carolina without his wife and children. His wife Ophelia went into labor and she and the baby died. Ophelia and the baby are buried together. Mary decided to join her Dad in South Carolina but her brother Joseph Henderson refused to go. He stayed with neighbors and worked their farm (The Patterson's). He later married Mary Patterson.

Thanks, Charlotte.

If someone knows the correct spelling of Ophelia's maiden name please e-mail me.

Joseph's death cert. has his birth May 4, 1854 and death Apr. 30, 1926. his head stone has his birth 1853 and death May 2, 1926.
