A six-months-old daughter of McGuffey residents choked to death on some candy Friday afternoon at her home, according to the Hanson funeral home, Alger, where the body was removed.
Esther, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Poe, had gotten hold of some gum drop candy, her physician reported, and put it in her mouth. She was rushed to the doctor's office but was dead on arrival.
Surviving besides the parents are seven sisters, Dortha, Opal, Lucille, Ruby, Fay, Shirley and Nancy, all at home; and two brothers, Felix, at home, and Merlin of Dunkirk.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Quickstep church, south of McGuffey, with burial in Preston cemetery, Alger.
