OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN)

PERU--Grace B. Elbel, 95, 435 Chili Ave., Peru, died at 10:53 a.m. Sunday, July 25, 2004, at Miller's Merry Manor.

She and her late husband, Carl, formerly owned and operated Elbel Shoe Store. She was a member of the Oakdale Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge Auxiliary.

She was born on June 11, 1909, in Wabash, to Grant U. and Matilda "Amber" Long. She married Carl H. Elbel on Dec. 2, 1929. He died on Oct. 23, 1983.

Surviving are a daughter, Peggy J. Chittum, Peru; a sister, Fairy Binford, Wabash; a granddaughter, Michelle (Dave) Houser, Peru; a grandson, Mike E. (Cricket) Brown, Peru; three great-grandchildren, Jason (Kelly), Trinity, and Shane; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Jared and Amber; four great-great-grandchildren, Jacqueline, Seth, Austin and Adrianna; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren, Reese and Jack. Three brothers and six sisters are deceased.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
