Lyman, SC - George D. Newman died on Saturday morning, June 3, 1950, at 4:15 following an illness of 10 months. Residence of the Friendship Baptist Church Community of Spartanburg County, SC for the past 10 years. Native of and reared in Henderson County, NC and the son of the late William and Hester Allen Newman. A U. S. Army World War I Veteran and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. Survivors included: his wife, the former Miss Viola Eubanks; one daughter, Miss Nancy Newman; three sons, Dan, Jim and PFC George D. Newman, Jr.; four brothers, Lee, J. E., L. R. and C. H. Newman; three sisters, Mrs.Horace Foster, Mrs. Tom Page and Mrs. Lee Stone. He was 56 years of age at demise and interment was in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
