He died on July 2, 1935 at 11:15 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bessie Foster after a long illness. Funeral services and interment were at North Pacolet Baptist Church. He was survived by, three daughters; Mrs. Bessie Foster, Mrs. Nannie Page, and Mrs. Estelle Gowan, five sons; George, Raymond, James, Charlie and Lee Newman. He was 77 years of age at his death.
