Josiah was the s/o Daniel David and Sarah P. (Melvin) Straw.
He married Margaret Jackins on 14 Sep 1854 in Boston, MA.
Margaret died in 1888 of maramus [a severe wasting away of body tissue - cause unknown but sometimes due to malnutrition/poor diet]
In 1887 while gardening, Josiah dug up a Spanish ninepence in perfect condition [coined 1733 in the reign of Philip V, the last of the Philips of Spain. The coin was then 154 yrs old]
Josiah remarried in 1889 to Sarah Ann Fletcher of South Woodstock, VT. the d/o Jasper and Phebe (Kidder) Fletcher. "Sally" was 65 and a widow of ____Thompson.
She died at 74 yrs of age when she was thrown from a sleigh in Claremont, NH where they lived.
Josiah suffered a stroke at age 84 and died 14 months later of senile paralysis.
