Paul was born March 8, 1923 in Fruitland, to Robert David Young and Sarah Emiline Fausett Young.
He married Myrth Mecham, his sweetheart and wife of 60 years, on August 4, 1943, in Heber City. Myrth died May 21, 2004. They made their home and raised their children in Fruitland.
Dad was a lifetime rancher and operated Paul A. Young Construction Company for many years. He loved working with the cattle, hunting, fishing, taking rides in the mountains and growing a very large vegetable garden. We were all privileged to be with him and enjoy the time together during these activities and are the memories we will cherish for all our lives.
Dad always took pride in everything he did, and there wasn't anything he could not do when he set his mind to it. We will remember him for his creativity and willingness to tackle any idea that would benefit his family.
His family was his greatest joy and he delighted in spending time with his children and grandchildren. They simply "were is life" and in many ways, he was "our life."
He is survived by 5 children, Kent Otis (Shelly) Young, Fruitland; Annette Michelle (Larry) Smith, New Braunfels, Texas; Lenna Mae (Dale) Giles, Tabiona; Sandra Kaye (William) Clark, Fruitland; Paul Michael (Cindy) Young, Fruitland; and a grandson, Tommy David (Vickie) Young, Fruitland. Paul took great pride in all of his 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Myrth, two children, Keren Marie and Tommy Andrew, and all of his 5 brothers and sisters, Elva Humes, Robert Elmer "Bert" Young, Laverna Roberts Casper, Mildred Muir, John Fausett Young, and Romanzo William "Dude" Young.
Funeral services held Monday, April 26, 2010 at 12 Noon, at the Fruitland LDS Chapel. There will be a viewing at the church Monday morning from 10:30011:45 am.
