Alvin H. Greuel, 88, formerly of R. 2, Elkhart Lake, died Saturday at Calumet Homestead Nursing Home, New Holstein, where he had lived for the past year.
He was born June 19, 1894 at St. Joe, a son of Arnold and Catherine Braun Greuel. He attended school at St. Joe. He married Irene Voelker May 4, 1920 at St. Cloud. They farmed for 37 years in the St. Cloud and St. Anna areas until retirement in 1960. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, St. Anna and the Holy Name Society.
Survivors are his wife of New Holstein; two daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Vivian) Baker of West Bend and Mrs. Wilfred (Joanne) Riesterer of Collins; four sons, Melvin of Menomonee Falls, Orville and Glenroy, both of St. Anna, and Oliver of New Holstein; 24 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one brother, Leo Greuel of Plymouth; and one sister, Mrs. Leona Forstner of Elkhart Lake. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
There was a funeral Mass Tuesday in St. Ann Catholic Church, St. Anna. The Rev. John Gallagher was celebrant of the Mass. Burial was in the church cemetery.
