Irene B. Greuel, 88, formerly of R. 2, Elkhart Lake, died Saturday afternoon, Dec. 27, 1986, at Calumet Homestead in New Holstein, where she had been a resident for the past five years.
The former Irene Voelker was born April 12, 1898, in St. Cloud, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Josephine Dreifurst Voelker. She attended St. Cloud schools.
On May 4, 1920, she married Alvin Greuel in St. Cloud. The couple farmed for 37 years in the St. Cloud and St. Anna areas. Mr. Greuel died March 26, 1983.
Mrs. Greuel was a member of St. Anna Catholic Church in St. Anna and its Christian Mothers.
Survivors include four sons, Melvin of Menomonee Falls, Orville and Glenroy, both of St. Anna, and Olive of New Holstein; two daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Vivian) Baker of West Bend and Mrs. Wilfred (Joanne) Riesterer of Collins; 24 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and one brother, Harold Voelker of Fond du Lac.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, one granddaughter, two brothers and four sisters.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at St. Anna Catholic Church in St. Anna, with the Rev. Jim Brett, pastor, as celebrant.
