Henry Gilbert Mitchell was the son of James Warren Lemont Mitchell and Julia Gilbert. He served in Co A of the 29th Regt in the Civil War. He was probably named after his mother's youngest brother, Henry A. Gilbert. Henry was born in Leeds, Maine, moved to Lowell, Mass., back to Leeds and then Industry, Maine, back to Lowell, Mass and then to his final resting place Leeds, Maine. Henry's father is buried in Leeds but it is unknown where his mother Julia, or his siblings James Everett and Julia, are buried.

Henry G. Mitchell, aged 95, died at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Harry M. Ingalls, Friday of last week. Death was due to the infirmities of advanced age. At the time of his death he was the oldest man in this vicinity. Prayers were conducted at the home Sunday afternoon by Rev. William E. Anderson. The body was taken to Leeds Center, Me., for burial by auto accompanied by Mr. Ingalls, a distance of 160 miles.
